Mission Statement

The purpose of the Special Education Department is to provide each student with an equal opportunity to succeed academically and socially by building on their strengths and accommodating their needs with specialized services provided in the least restrictive environment in order to be productive members of the community.

The Rialto Unified special education staff provide services and supports to students from ages three to twenty two. These services and supports range from full integration in the general education classrooms to separate programs designed to address more significant needs in a small group or individualized setting. It is important to note, however, that special education is a service not a location or specific classroom. All services provided in Rialto Unified must ensure that students are educated in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE).
